Knited Dish Cloths

During our recent "lack of internet" I decided that I would do some knitting, and thought I would make up some dish cloths for cleaning. I get so annoyed when the chux cloth starts to fall apart, but I still keep using it wanting to get the most out of it before I let the worms at it.

Here it is at the start,

and here is the finished product

It was really easy to make and only took me two nights to do it while sitting in front of the TV. Now to find the motivation to use it and get those dishes done

That looks great. Could you tell me how you did it? I only know how to do the diagonal ones.

I liked your pumpkin post. Mine are taking over the lawn and my husband has agreed not to mow them for the next couple of months.

Hi Kate,

This one I just made up as I went along, but here's what I did:

Cast on 52 stitches, then knit 4 purl 4 until the end, and thats pretty much all there is to it, keep the same pattern for 6 rows then switch the knit and purl around so that you have a patch work pattern with blocks of knits and purls.

I used an acrylic fibre that I had lying around and after using it I probably wouldn't recommend it, it doesnt really soak up the water, so wiping over benches and things even with it wrung out leaves them very wet. I did see some balls of yarn in spotlight the other week that were corn and bamboo which felt really nice and soft, I might get some of those next time I am down there.

You did a good job. Cotton make the best cloths. I made several to give away for Christmas, and for me.

Hi Colleen, what sort of cotton do you use, is it just the crochet balls?
